Introduction
Swoof ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Sorting Decisions: Which photos you keep, trash, or add to albums — stored locally and synchronized through your private iCloud database so your Swoof activity can stay consistent across your devices
- User Preferences: App settings, pinned albums, language preferences, subscription status
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device type, OS version, unique identifiers, app version
- Usage Data: Features used, session statistics, app performance, crash reports
- Analytics Data: Anonymous usage statistics via Firebase Analytics
1.3 Photo & Video Data — Important Information
Swoof does not upload your photo or video files.
- ✅ All photo processing happens on-device using Apple's Photos, Vision, and CoreLocation frameworks
- ✅ We do NOT upload, copy, or transmit your photos or videos to any server
- ✅ Duplicate detection, trip detection, and sharpness analysis run entirely on your device
- ✅ Background duplicate discovery uses only locally available Photos representations and does not start an iCloud photo or video download
- ✅ Deletions go through the standard iOS Photos "Recently Deleted" flow — available for recovery for up to 30 days unless permanently removed sooner; Apple controls this behavior
- ⚠️ Swoof may synchronize identifiers and sorting activity through your private iCloud database, but it does not upload the photo or video files themselves
- ⚠️ Apple may process photo metadata and private iCloud sync data according to its own privacy policy
1.4 Subscription and Payment Information
- Processed by Apple through the App Store
- We use Adapty SDK to manage subscription status
- We do NOT collect or store your payment card information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
- Manage your subscription status
- Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
- Identify and fix bugs and technical issues
- Develop new features based on user behavior
- Send important updates and respond to support requests
3. Photo Library Permission
Swoof requires Full Access to your Photos library to function. This permission is used exclusively to:
- Read your photos and videos so you can review them inside the app
- Move assets into albums you choose
- Send assets to the system "Recently Deleted" bin when you confirm a trash action
- Read burst identifiers and asset metadata to group duplicates and trips
You can revoke or change this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Swoof.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google)
- Collects anonymous usage statistics and crash reports
- Privacy Policy
Adapty
- Manages subscription status and in-app purchases
- Privacy Policy
Apple App Store and Photos Framework
- Processes payments and subscriptions
- Provides the Photos, Vision, and CoreLocation APIs used for on-device processing
- Privacy Policy
5. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage and Private iCloud Sync
- Sorting history, trashed-photo buffer, settings, and precomputed recommendations are stored locally on your device via SwiftData
- Sorting events, session state, and pinned-album selections may be synchronized through Apple's CloudKit in your private iCloud database
- Photo and video files are not uploaded by Swoof; synchronized records use identifiers and sorting metadata needed to keep app state consistent
- You can remove local data by uninstalling the App. Private iCloud records remain subject to your iCloud account settings and Apple's retention controls
Security Measures
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS) for third-party services
