How to find large videos on iPhone before you delete anything.
First check Settings → General → iPhone Storage to confirm that Photos is actually using the space. Then open Photos → Collections → Media Types → Videos to review library videos. Apple documents the Videos collection, but not a guaranteed largest-first sort there. Swoof's Heaviest review provides a size-ranked starting point for items in the Photos library.
A video visible on your iPhone can belong to Photos, Files, Messages, a streaming app, or another app's documents. Deleting from Photos only addresses the Photos library. If the storage chart points elsewhere, start in that app instead of removing memories that are not causing the problem.
Device storage, iCloud storage, and Photos are different.
Apple separates device storage from iCloud storage. Device storage is the fixed capacity inside the iPhone; iCloud storage holds synced data in Apple's cloud. Photos can affect both, but the totals are not interchangeable. In iPhone Storage, the Photos row covers photos and videos in the photo library. Downloads under On My iPhone, large message attachments, offline streaming media, and files kept by other apps appear in other categories.
That distinction prevents a common mistake: opening the Photos library and deleting videos when the full category is actually Files or Messages. Read the storage chart first, then choose the matching review surface.
Use the built-in Apple path first.
Open Settings, tap General, then tap iPhone Storage.
Wait for the category chart and app list to finish calculating.
If Photos is substantial, open Photos and tap Collections.
Scroll to Media Types and open Videos.
Open the information view for a candidate when you need its duration or file details.
This path is useful when you already remember which long recordings are disposable. It is less convenient when the library is large and you do not know where the biggest items are. Apple may also offer storage recommendations, but the available recommendations depend on the device and its current contents.

Review size and meaning together.
File size is only a prioritization signal. A long family video, a short 4K clip, and an accidental recording can all appear near the top for different reasons. Play the item, confirm the date and event, and check whether a copy exists somewhere you control. If you want to remove it, Swoof first places it in Swoof Trash rather than immediately sending a Photos deletion request.
Before emptying Swoof Trash, review the queue as a set. This catches cases where several clips came from the same event or where the largest item is the only complete recording. The final Empty Trash action requests deletion through Apple Photos.
Check iCloud Photos before the final deletion.
If Sync this iPhone is enabled for iCloud Photos, Apple says a photo or video deleted on one device is deleted from the other devices signed into the same Apple Account. Optimize iPhone Storage is different: it keeps full-resolution originals in iCloud while the phone may retain smaller device copies. Turning on optimization can reduce device pressure without choosing memories to delete, but it requires enough iCloud storage and time to synchronize.
Apple normally places deleted items in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless they are permanently removed sooner. Treat that as a recovery path controlled by Apple, not as a substitute for a separate backup of irreplaceable videos.

Does Swoof upload videos to calculate their size?

Why did storage not increase immediately after deletion?
Apple normally moves deleted Photos items to Recently Deleted first, and iCloud Photos may still be synchronizing. Device storage and iCloud storage are also separate totals. Review both before assuming a deletion failed.
